Yahoo Answers gives us our individuality. We cant copy no one here and is forced to give out our own answers, make our own moves and do our own choice. We get to be ourselves without being ashamed becuz no one here knows anything about it.
Sure some answers are not worth reading, some are too long to even care but thats individualism. And its pretty fun so far.
There is individualism in each of us, we just gotta keep searching harder.

Absolutely nothing my friend! Who says it is wrong? It is todays society, the deviants, the criminals, religion and politics that says this is wrong, as I have found out.
You are right the modern generation does lack imagination to a certain extent because they use their imagination for the wrong things....their own devious plots, as though they regard themselves as being intelligent! lmao.
The modern-day pressure to assimilate reminds me of a flock of sheep, and I agree, people today take the easy way out, they follow others.....stronger characters, who misuse their powers. The followers wear their "blinkers" and are too frightened or weak to do anything about their environment! If one does, then one is regarded as a rebel....an individual. I am an Individual and I am proud of it !
The world needs new ideas and new idealistical values and yes, we are heading towards fascism. Do your own thing and be proud I say...and good luck! Cheers.

Hmm..I can't say I exactly agree with you on this one. I'm a grad student in college (but quite a bit older than the average students population) and so I'm around these kids all the time, and see alot of free thinking and individuality, and also rejection of normal societal idealogy amongst them. I also find this young generation to have a compassionate streak, which I must say surpised me. They are slow to pass jusgement on others, and quick to help the less fortunate when they can. Alot of them detest the current Bush Administration, and are very Pro Civil Rights. So I'm not sure where you're coming from on this. I guess it depends on where you live and the type of kids you are exposed to.

Anything that is 'different' is a threat to the whole structure of normality.
We have it bashed into us day and night what is expected of us to become 'normal', some ideology that was cooked up to keep people in nice straight lines. The system is set up to work for the follower, not the thinker or individualist. It is damn hard work to retain your individuality when the masses have been so brainwashed, serious social pressure.
The truth is, that it is not 'normal' to be 'normal'. That most people have become depressed and fed up by the sheer boredom of 'normal'. most people surround themselves with distractions like a new car to make their lives more meaningful

That is a question I believe every generation as asked. There has always been pressure on "individuals." In fact, society is much more tolerant today than yesterday. Can you imagine gays, goths, skaters, or any other “group” in the 50s? They would have been lynched.

Most people do not want to be responsible for their own actions, or even trying to be individual or creative. It is easier to copy someone else's style and then try to make a spin on it. What it begins to happen is a stifle of creativity and you get a nation of drones with one leader calling all of the shots.
There is nothing wrong in being an individual. I am one. I am my own leader. I dont follow anyone but God. Man...too predictable and out for themselves. Cant go wrong when you follow God. EVER.

Pressure to conform has always been with us, I mean it's nothing new. There is increasing fear in the population due to the so-called-terror threat and I think that people are seeking some sort of comfort in the faces of blandness and commonality. It stinks.
Our true power rests inside our creative selves. What we show on the outside is often a reflection of what is going on inside of us. I fear that we are loosing something. I also fear that it is also not happening by accident. Those who would control us are seeking more docile, unthinking subjects.

I am 13 and I think I am of the generation you are talking about. I am not a clone in any way, shape, or form and I do have a sense of imagination.
It's criminal how the adults of today put us all into one group of hoodie wearing yobs all exact copies of eachother.
We're not all like that you know!

What on earth makes you think it is wrong nowadays more than in earlier years ! Great things are achieved and discovered by people with imagination and individual effort .Look at the space age , the discoveries in medicine and science. All people who walk to their own drummer and believe in themselves .

It is the way we are or have been raising our children. I was taught to stand up and fight for what is right, but now at 51, I'm tired. People are so afraid of what everybody else thinks. My Grandmother told me - "If they don't pay your bills don't worry about "them." I have given my 16 year old daughter the same advice. To much peer pressure to be a carbon copy of everyone else.
