Not Tesco, but I've had a retail interview before. I was asked questions like:
Have you had any experience working in a team? (Describe)
If you had a problem with someone in your team, how would you handle it?
How would you handle an abusive/disruptive customer?

Just think about what would sound good to an employer. For example, in response to the second question, you could say that you'd be calm, diplomatic, try to see things from the other person's position and if possible seek a compromise.

Also, try to think of things to ask them, preferably which indicates some interest in their business.

Good luck!

I'm sure Tesco isn't that different to other companies. I've interviewed people and believe me the main question they'll be asking (in their heads) is "Do I like this person?"

If they thought you weren't technically qualified you wouldn't even have been offered an interview. It's a personality contest now. They want to know if they'd like working with you every day and you should be asking yourself if you want to work with them. It's a two way personality assesment. Good luck.

I am working for Tesco at the moment and I can assure you that will need more than 'one brain cell' which another person has stated in their answer. You will be asked questions like the ones some of the others have said. Its really concentrating on helping customers as much as you can.The only bad part of it is,you get very, very rude customers and you will have to be able to deal with them.A lot of customers are very unpleasant. On the other hand the majority of them are STARS which makes it worth while.

Hi,

I worked for them for two years when I left school. They ask you things like-
What would you do if a customer asked you where something was?- You would take them to it, never just 'tell' them lol
What would you do if you suspected somebody was stealing?- You would not approach them, just follow them, and then tell security when they are leaving.
Why do you want to work here? etc

It is just questions like that

Good Luck!!!- basically with Tesco, if you've got an interview, you've got the job

used to work for tesco. they just ask stupid questions like anywhere else really.. most give u mutiple choice questions and just use common sence to figure out which 1 is best
( exsample:
who comes 1st
A) yourself B) Tesco Company C) Customer D) No One )

good luck dont think u will need it any dummie could work 4 tesco (not saying ur a dummie just sayin there are dummies there and if they accept them then they will except u)

They will ask you questions to see if your "over qualified" for the job. They want someone who will stay in job for years. Tell them you are keen and see yourself as a store or dept manager in years to come, the fave question is "where do you see yourself in 5 years" reply with your help, in charge of a section or managing a store. Also if you are accepted, on 1st training day you will be obliged to stand up and tell the class about yourself.
