G'day Violet,
Thank you for your question.
I am the secret Santa in our office. People buy a gift of not more than $10 a head and wrap it up before putting it in Santa's sack. People go and draw the prize and I am last to draw. Despite this, I haven't done too badly. Last year, I got a small bottle of whisky that my then boss put in. I knew it was him because he likes a drop of whisky - after work of course.
The worst Xmas present ever was my little brother giving my Dad a Fonzie poster. It's 30 years ago and I still give him grief about it.
Seasons greetings to you and yours.

I'm a musician myself and someone gave me the Auto Biography of a Guns'N Roses band member which is found truly inspiring to read. A bit over the top maybe but inspiring none the less. best gift I've received in a while.

A bag or potpourri. It was supposed to be a $10 gift. This stuff was bought at a dollar type store for 99 cents.

2 napkin rings and a pop-up book. Oh wait, that was from my husband's wealthy grandmother.
A set of purple and green dish towels. Oh wait, that was from my husband's aunt--at the last minute, from her kitchen.
Nothing. Oh wait, that was from my husband's other (wealthy) aunt.
How embarrased were we to have given such nice gifts to these @ssholes, see that they gave VERY nice gifts to everyone else, and then have to open those? Way to welcome us into your family!
Needless to say, this year we are spending our money and time on ourselves. Hooray for Vegas!
