I'll just respond to some of replies:

The whole "abortion" thing is a birth rights issue, not a womans rights issue. There is nothing inherent in women that makes them have to get pregnant, if there was then this would clearly be a womans rights issue. I'm not saying that all births are planned, but I am saying that women, if they wanted to, do not have to ever get pregnant and as such this is not an inherently female issue. Any woman can use "the pill" in conjunction with other types of devices and simply have sex less often or, if they choose never to want to become pregnant, they can get tubal ligation. Since women do not have to become pregnant, I do not consider this to be an inherently female issue, but more of a "pregnancy rights" issue. It just so happens that only women can become pregnant, but that still does not make it a female issue. The "right" one is fighting for is to control the "pregnancy"...so it is a pregnanacy issue, not a, inherently female issue.

...just to clarify on the abortion stuff I wrote above: if a woman is forced into having a birth (for instance, she is molested underage, or is denied access or knowledge about birth control or something like that) then the abortion itself is not a female issue, it is still a pregnancy issue, but that fact, the fact *that females are being forced to become pregnant*....THAT becomes the inherently female issue, because it is a womans rights issue, a place where a womans inherent choice to become pregnant is being trampled upon.

To smile: I just asked this question in another article, and apparently you are wrong about women getting paid less for doing the same job. Women do not get paid less for doing the same job as men. Women in general get paid less than men as a result of lifestyle choices (more women become homemakers than men).

To <3 <3: When I asked which rights feminists were fighting for you responded with "equality", and I am assuming you mean they just want equal "rights", well I don't know if you are aware of this, but women have the same rights that men do.

I'll end my comments by responding to one more person "CeleryTree". I think you stated it the well when you said women are not fighting for any "legal" rights, but are fighting for "moral" rights. Women and men being perfectly equal legally are however different by nature and as such treat one another differently: men have deeper more powerful voices and are taller by nature and stronger, women have more seductive voices, are considered more sexy and beautiful. This difference can't be ignored, but one can't help but notice how these features generally even out (like yin and yang). In addition to that, being that the law has eradicated all physical things a women can't do that men can, it really can't be a huge problem. It's just natures draw. What about men who are born with softer voices than women? Should they fight for moral rights also? What about shorter men? Would you defend them? Or would you just say they have "short man syndrome" and laugh at them in private?

To Bonzai Betty: Saying abortion is a "womans rights issue" because only women can be pregnant is like saying anti-semitism is a "human rights issue" because only humans can be semitic, it's correct but only loosely. Abortion is a pregnancy specific issue. Some women never become pregnant and some can't even become pregnant...How is abortion rights an issue specific to them?...It isn't an issue...because it is not a female rights specifc issue.

hmm lets see:

"the right to have the choice to an abortion."

Got it. But they insist that men take full responsibility for the decision, even though men have precisely zero say in it.

So.. privilege there.

"getting paid the same as men for doing the same job."

Got it.

Except there are equal opportunity quotas that companies must meet - for women staff, but not male.

So.. privilege there.

Hmm feminists are fighting for privileges.

One thing feminists need to continue to fight for is the right to not be resented just for simply expecting to be seen as equals. They need to fight for the right not to have to choose to look and act like "fake men" in order to be taken seriously or else looking and acting traditionally "feminine" and being taken seriously by almost nobody.

They need to fight for the right to be understood by both men and woman because if you just scan this site you will see how far women have not yet come when it comes to how well they are respected and understood.

There are any number of "rights" such as the ones above women still need to fight for. I can imagine you thinking, "Those aren't legal rights." You're right. They're God-given rights that have - since the beginning of time - been ignored or eradicated.

Legal rights are about wrong that have been seen and righted. Moral rights are sometimes yet to be acknowledged. There are any number of fundamental, moral, rights that women still must fight for. Hope that answers your question.

Feminists are not fighting for the elimination of the penis nor do they want to have one. They fight to make things better in society; better access to health care, keeping abortions legal, better pay (not just for women, but for minorities too), better education, prisoner rehabilitation, gay rights, after school programs, pre-natal care programs for the uninsured, clean neighborhoods, etc. A true feminist does not hate men nor do they want to see them subjugated by women. They want to help improve their communities and countries so that everyone has a chance for as good and happy a life as possible. They want everyone to be treated with respect and dignity. True feminists do not treat others as less than themselves. Unfortunately the actions of some extremists who should never be considered feminist have made the name "feminist" sound like a bad word. It's a shame that any woman or man should be afraid of saying, "I am a feminist."

I know that they have fought a good case for women in the past but it now seems that it has gone to far as men seem to be losing their identity due to all the equal rights for women

also a lot of women seem to now expect to much from their men and the average guy some times feel that it is not worth his while making a move on a women because he fears rejection due to the high standards that she has set herself.

I Think that for women there are certain things going on in there life that are to embaressing to dicuss for there reasons on abortion. There is issues of rape, unable to afford to care for a child,No job,No place to live at times due to getting kicked out.We don't know.So therefore all issues aside I don't judge.I feel bad for the unborn child but both situations are equal.Sure you have adoptions but look at how those sometimes turn out in the news and how long in a foster home before adoption takes place.

Feminists don't want equal rights. They want equal outcomes.

As for abortion, ladies, yes it is your body. It's also his child. How about a little trade off? You get to decide on abortion, and he doesn't have to pay child support for the next 18 years when he didn't want a child. Sound good? Double standards much?

Women do get equal pay for equal work. That $0.75 on the $1.00 statistic has been disproved so many times, I'm surprised people aren't embarassed to mention it. There are not as many women ceo's because there are not as many women who WANT to be ceo's. That is a killer, cutthroat world, and most women would rather have a family.

Basically, I have no idea what feminists are fighting for, short of the extermination of every human being with a penis.

I love your questions Allan, you make it so easy. Kelly, for the first time I'm afraid I have to disagree with you. I don't believe feminists want to exterminate everything with a penis... THEY WANT ONE THEMSELVES!
Feminists don't want to eliminate the opposite sex, they just want someone of the opposite sex on all fours with a gag in their mouth, a collar around their neck, and they want a leash and a whip in their own hands.

Wait a second... I think I just realized that I'm a feminist.

The right to control or make our own decisions on what happens to our bodies....such as birth control decisions, delivery of a baby decision (c section versus vaginal) and the right to have the choice to an abortion.

being treated equaly. getting paid the same as men for doing the same job.
having birth control available in stores. having abortions legal, since a woman's body is but her own business.

peace.
