think kaboudit:

Why do you assume that if I don't like Katie Couric I must like Rush Limbaugh, Bill O'Reilly, and Ann Coulter? I'm pretty sure none of them claim to be an unbiased news source. The phrase there is "fair and balanced" which supposedly means equal time for opposing views. I'm more of a fan of MSNBC's Olbermann and Scarborough.. both of whom are biased (in case you don't know Olbermann's very liberal and Scarborough is conservative but not as conservative as Olbermann is liberal) but given the premise of their shows, I'm OK with it.

The people mentioned above are opinion-based journalists. Katie Couric is the host of the nightly news. I think that she is biased. These newscasts are supposed to be an unbiased report on the news of the day. Big difference.

Without question. It's sometimes also called 'having an opinion'.

Of course she is biased. All news people have a bias of some sort. Hers is a bias toward the Democratic side, just as Glen Beck is biased toward the Republican side. It can't be helped, people have opinions by nature. Where the difficulty comes into play is if they don't appear to be at least trying to remain neutral in an interview. As long as the interviewer isn't overly bullying their interview subject, I can usually slice through the BS in any story.

A trend I began to see over the years is the belief by the media that they are somehow untouchable and above reproach in their work. They have elevated their status to that of spiritual leader in some ways...just my take.

Katie Couric is a human being, and since all "compos mentis" human beings have opinions, they ALL have personal bias. If you don't like her "take" on things, then by complaining all you are doing is proving you are too dumb or lazy to change the channel!
You think Rush Limbaugh is unbiased? Or Bill "Orally"? Or Anne Coulter?

Get a grip!

we are biased - but in her news positions - the job calls for her to read the news not to editorialize it. She is a blatant Liberal.
