I need her to spend less time in my cubicle and more time in hers. She spends a lot of her time talking about what nice house she has and how much money she spends eating out. When I talk she doesn't listen. I need to get her back into her veal calf station!

Are you allowed to wear earphones at work? I listen to my CD's and radio shows all day at work. I do not care to listen to other peoples gossip, home problems, etc. Even if you have to answer phones, just keep the music down low. This usually keeps people from bothering me except if its work related. Hope this helps!

Tell her that you're happy for her but that you need to get back to work. That you don't mean to be rude, but you don't feel it is right to have personal conversations while you are on the clock. Tell her that maybe you can do lunch once a week or something to catch up. That way you kindly put her into her place and let her know that you really don't appreciate the distraction while at work, but may want to do more outside of work. She sounds annoying though, people who talk about only themselves and don't listen to you are one of my biggest pet peeves. I guess we all encounter them in our lives.

Tell her that you are busy and have no time to listen, or tell that the boss says to keep the talking down if not both of you will be in trouble. That should do it.

Instead of engaging in the conversation with her, do your work and interject with a periodic "uh huh."
