British singer/actor David Essex wrote and recorded Rock on in 1974. It was produced by Jeff Wayne, who went on to produce the War of the Worlds album. Essex re-recorded the song in the 80's, and it's also been recorded by U.S. singer/actor Michael Damian, and by UK rockers Def Leppard.
