What if I downloaded a music from MySpace, and that site claimed that it is the official MySpace of the band (and is approved by the band's official website), would that be considered illegal downloading of music?

No it isn't if the actual artist allowed the downloading. When you make a band page and you upload music, you have the option of allowing the song to be downloaded or not. If the actual band put the song on the page, then it's not illegal. If someone other than the band put the song on the page, then it's illegal because you're copying copyrighted music.

It isn't unlawful to down load content material from the web. It's unlawful to down load copyrighted content material that the landlord has no longer given permission for the unfastened down load. There are lots of artists and songs that may be downloaded unfastened seeing that the artist who created the songs allowed it and a few inspire it. Only if the copyright holder hasn't given permission free of charge downloads does it turn out to be unlawful and provided that they pursue the problem (In which case is in general the RIAA, and sure. They pursue the problem). And extra instances than no longer, it is the Record Company who've the crisis with it. Most artist do not care an excessive amount of, they make so much in their cash from Concerts. So they inspire the spreading in their track.

No, if an artist or their record company put their music up for distribution on a website, then it is totally legal.
