take the train to City Hall and walk towards Suntec City for the Hop On Bus City Tour($6). Enjoy the rides around town and get off at Golden Landmark Hotel for foot sightseeing around Arab Street. Many cultural things you can see and good souvenir you can get there. Dinner, proceed to ZamZam Restaurant for the MUST try Murtabak and down it with the famous Teh tarek.
Done, take a taxi($5) down to Clarke Quay for the beautiful and romantic boat rides($6) along Spore River before you walk down(10minutes walk) to Raffles Hotel for the historical Singapore Sling($25).
Ends it with your shopping spree at Mustapha Centre(24hrs) for cheap and good quality products.
Maximise your time at your own pace for the best of S'pore. Do it, you will never go wrong.

singapore tourist sights are pretty scatterd all over the island, so it's going to be tough for you to shuttle around within such a short time (and expensive if you cab it all the way)

Singapore's known for it's shopping and food. Just head to orchard road for a good mix of goodies. You can take the MRT from Changi Airport directly to Orchard Road MRT station (not more than SGD3) or cab it for about SGD30.

At Orchard, stop by any foodcourts (i personally recommend Food Republic at Wisma Atria or Foodcourt at Ngee Ann City basement) for a gastronomic overdrive. Shopping malls here close late around 9.30-10.00 pm.. so take your time and stroll through the streets and soak in the city lights and greenery. if you're lucky, you can catch some buskers and street performers in the evenings (especially on weekends). The visitor centre is also located in the heart of orchard road. Pop in for all the info you need about this little island.

Welcome to our Island City and hope you enjoy your stay!

It should be 5pm by the time you clear customs and reach the city, See if you can book a trishaw ride tour which takes you to interesting parts of Singapore. For nightscene, you can go to the ever colorful Geylang (lots of streetwalkers but safe, thai style backrubs, cheap beers) or Orchard Towers (pubs and 4 floors of whores). After midnight, head for Mustapha Centre for 24 hours shopping, an amazing place.

From the airport (terminal 2) you can take the train and go to downtown, City Hall or Orchard, If you drop by City Hall station, you could walk to Esplanade, and the Merlion(Singapore's famous landmarks). If you drop by at the Orchard station, you could shop around, you could go to Ngee Ann, Takashimaya. In that area there is a nice asian food court where you could sample nice Singapore food. Take the train or cab back to the airport in time for your next flight.

customs and immigration and bags will take you only 30 mins tops. Travel to the city, either by train or taxi will take you another 30 mins. Get a hotel room in the city and shop around for the day :)

Well, I will go to either Orchard rd or Esplanade and basically spend the entire day there. (I'm assuming you don't want a full-fledged tour but a centralised area where you can eat nice food, shop and sight-see a little and maybe do some drinking and partying at night). Yeah, go explore!

Wow ... nice stop over huh? 17 hours .....The best thing you can do in 17 hours, roughly 12 hours excluding immigration checks is to go to Geylang. It is a beautiful place in Singapore. Then go to Orchard Road then back to Geylang. You may even wish to go to nearby Johor Bahru in Malaysia or Batam in Indonesia.

Good luck!
