I'd try getting him in a rear-naked chock hold and make him tap out.

It would depends on the bear...

Polar or grizzly, soil myself, not much else to do.

Black bear, throw something, not at it, but near -- they're inquisitive and may go to check it out. Works best with food.

Panda, not overly agressive either, but if the attact is already underway not much to do. Maybe shout, scream, try to startle it to get the chance to get away.

Koala -- punch it in it's oversized flat nose or gouge it's eyes. It's a herbivore, it's not likely too interested in me.

Teddy bear, kick the stuffings out of it, then drag it to Build a Bear, they can rebuild him ... better then before ...

If approached by a bear you should make as much noise as possible and put your arms in the air to make yourself look bigger. If he is does not run away and attacks instead, you should roll up in a ball and put your hands over your head. If he is at a good distance from you, avoidance is always a good strategy.
