During the holiday season we all see the volunteers in front of every store taking donations for those less fortunate. The problem is, I give to the first store that I go to and then it becomes an issue of not making eye contact or "avoiding" certain doorways for the rest of the day. This seems weird. Does anyone else feel this way?

The salvation Army is an amazing organization.They really help people who are down and out.
Once you donate, that is enough. You may want to say " I have given already, have a happy holiday season " if it makes you feel better but there is no reason to justify.

Do not feel guilty!
The management who work for salvation army are not honest people..
many years ago salvation army works very hard trying to help everyone who needs help,, but today they work only for money,they dont care any more to help poor people,all the good donations that they receive per day the price expensive .as a regular store.also most of the volunters are taking jobs from people who really needs to work to support their families, the volunters work for free and they dont need to pay to any one who needs a job.

I don't pay any attention to them. They hire these poor people to sit in front of stores and con people out of money. I have absolutely no use for the salvation army. The begging is a game to them. If I see someone with a sign at a store that states: "I work for food or beer or whatever" I give to them. At least I know the money is going to the individual in need. If the same individual went to the salvation army and asked for a dollar they would put the run on the individual. I don't know who they give to, but it is not the needy.

Yes, I suppose. A creature of conscience would feel guilty about not giving money to the less fortunate. But consider this....
If everyone would take care of their own, we would be better off. God wants you to put your family first.( in terms of resources ) Only give what you can afford, with out compromising you family.
