Who coined that saying, did anyone see it happen? What does it really mean?

I do not know who coined the phrase but my favourite answer is Curiosity killed the cat. But satisfaction brought it back.. And if you do not have curiosity you will never ever learn anything in life. I am 73 and still curious and still learning and loving every moment...

Seriously, I reckon it comes from the way cats like to check out new spaces - like inside the garage when the door is left open - and then get themselves locked in. My neighbours' cat was lucky - they heard the clunking from inside the tumble dryer after a few moments, and were able to release a rather aggrieved and dishevelled Tibbles before it was too late.

"The cat" is a metaphor - YOU could be the cat, if you ask too many questions, it could kill you, too.

What it really means is if you don't get off your backside & find things out for yourself, people will get annoyed with you asking questions & show you what they think of you.

Because satisfaction brought it back.

And then of course the cat was able to tell us all about it!
