My husband uses paypal for his internet business and ebay store - he has not had any issues with anyone stealing money. Money arrives in a very timely fashion.

You have to tell them when to transfer the money from your paypal account to your persoanl banking account. Hubbys says it usually take 2-3 business days. Sometimes faster.

It really depends on where you are located and what you are selling. If you are in the United States, selling more than $1,000 a month - a merchant account with an electronic payment gateway (LinkPoint, Verisign's Payflow, or Authorizenet.com) might be the best solution.

http://www.loudcommerce.com is a merchant account provider that can help you set everything up.

Authorizenet.com and Verisign's Payflow will charge you a transaction fee (on top of the merchant account transaction fee). Linkpoint only has a monthly gateway fee - no transaction fee. Verisign will give you 1,000 free transactions a month - but they are usually about $50.00 a month

Using one of the gateways above, you can keep customers one your secure website to process the credit card transaction

if you are doing less, 2CO.com or Paypal might be a better choice.

Setting a paypal account is simple and safe as long as you follow the rules. I can give you a link that deals with Payapl & Ebay transactions through Paypal. PayPal is one of the most popular online money transfer systems widely used for online auctions, pay to surf programs, e-books and purchase of low value goods. It is now a part of the online auction website eBay. More details available at

Setting up an account is pretty easy all you have to have is a credit card number and an account number from your bank so they can verify your identity and transfer your money to your account. If any unauthorized transaction is ever made all you do is file a claim and they should resolve it. You can get your money transferred to you, they can send it to you as a check, or you can get it from an ATM for a fee of $1.
