yeah thats prob too much
each state has a diffrent min wage and thats what you'll be making
i would set my goals a little higher, try working at a clothing store or somthing like that, even a cell phone store or mall shop
also try a local job placement agency they may have better paying jobs with no exp. needed

Ashanti, that's unfortunately not a realistic amount for someone in most areas of the U.S. who is an entry level employee.
A lot of us are parents supporting children, with college education, and several years of excellent work experience, and we are still not making anywhere near that amount.
But you are on the right track to go back to school. I'm in the process of finishing my bachelor's degree and I should start in the mid 30s per year after graduation.
For an entry level employee, you should expect that you will make between minimum wage to $2.00 per hour more, depending on the amount a company is willing to pay.
I know that doesn't seem like much, but consider what you would get if you don't take a job!
Have you considered taking a short course and doing something such as CENA work (that's a nurses aid position at a nursing home)? They usually pay between $8-12 per hour and take just 2-4 weeks of training. It's hard work, but there are some intangible benefits. If you have the heart to work and care for others, it might be a better option for you. Plus it's the type of job you could work part time while going to school.
Good luck to you,.

Depends where you live. You may gross $400 before taxes, but realize that amounts to $10 per hour, rather rare for this industry. A safe bet would be to assume a wage of $7-8 an hour, thus gross pay of $280-$320 per week. Take off 20% for taxes/social security, and you will take home between $224, and $256 per week. You'll also get a decent tax return the following spring.

Depends on the state. Don't undermine your worth, go for a better job than fast food!! $400 a week is $10 an hour gross. Not many fast food places are gonna place anywhere close to that.

I have a younger brother who is a manager in a fast food chain. And even being manager, he doesn't make 400 a week. Most fast food resturants pay around minimum wage. Which is somewhere around 5.25/hour. So if you're expecting 400 a week, you would look to look somewhere other than fast food.

They're not all minimum wage jobs. Many of the jobs held by the immoral illegal aliens in our country pay more than twice the minimum wage. Boys in Mexico marry women and have more children with them than they can care for. Most keep their "boyfriends" too. They come and go across our porous southern borders spreading disease. Mexicans are still angry at Americans for stealing their land, so they send their losers north to re-inhabit their lost territories. Washington retaliates by sending them our jobs. Now Obama wants to, literally, give away the farm. His immigration policies reflect just that. Most Mexican immigrants are failures in their home countries, because they are lazy and look for the easy way. Their homelands are filled with factory jobs that had once been held by Americans on US soil. They enter the US illegally, because entering the US legally requires some effort and they want the easy way. They don't value education and, consequently, neither do their children. Many look to crime instead of work that requires education and training. After all. they're looking for the easy way. Now Obama wants to pave the easy way for these people by giving them a free ride.

Are you going to work full time? Yes 400 is way too much. If you figure say $6.00 an hour x 20 hours a week that is $120.00 minus taxes so more like $400 a month. Double that for full time. If you find a place that pays much more than that more power to you.

You'll be making minimum wage. Remember, Uncle Sam takes at least a quarter of what you make as income tax.
Let's assume that you work enough hours to earn $400 a week. You would only take home about $300. Welcome to the working man's world, where everybody screws you.

Fast food will pay min wage and about 15 - 20 hours a week to start. so lets say min wage is $6.75 per hour times 20 hours that's $135.00 before taxes. Nowhere near your $400.00 figure
