There is a bus that goes from Bally's to the Rio about every 1/2 hour and back. At the Rio where you get dropped off there is 2 other buses that go to different hotels. If you go in to Bally's by the front desk and go out the doors across from the Players card desk and once out side go right and there is a sign for the bus and the times. The ride is free all the drivers look for is a tip.
Good luck

Take it from me: I made this walk from Bally's to the Rio a few years back, when I was 24 years old and in decent shape, and I thought it was too much even then. I believe there is still a free shuttle that runs from Harrah's on the strip to the Rio every 30 minutes or so. You should probably call ahead to make sure it still exists, though, as I haven't used for quite some time.

You can walk but it may be a very long walk depending on where on the Strip you are coming from. Even the closest part of the Strip is still a hike to Rio. A cab from the part of the strip closest to Rio will cost about $5 or $6.

It is walking distance, but I wouldn't recommend it. The distance wasn't the problem when I tried it, but the traffic was. You have to cross over the freeway, past a freeway on ramp. I thought I was going to be hit trying to cross the on ramp! Taking a cab or shuttle is much safer. I think there is a shuttle between the Rio and Harrahs, on the strip.

It is at only 1 mile from the strip between the Belagio and Ceasar Palace. From the strip go West when hitting the Flamingo Road.
What I am not sure is if there is sidewalk on that section of the Flamingo Road.
I recommend to all the Rio at: 1-800-playrio to ask about if Flamingo road is good for pedestrian in their area.

It's probably one city block, but you do have to cross over the freeway overpasses which have no walkway, so a cab or shuttle to Bellagio or Caesar's and then walking to anywhere else you want to go on the Strip would probably be better -especially after dark just for safety.

I think the distance is not so far, but you have to cross over a couple of busy streets populated by drunken drivers!

You could technically walk but I wouldn't suggest it. The area is shady so I would suggest taking a shuttle.
