BEFORE: 1773. British parliament put the Tea Act in place, which taxed tea on any non-British tea. That means the colonists had to pay more to drink any tea BUT British tea. That tea could only travel by the British East India Trading Company ships. It made the colonists mad that they didn't have a wider market/choice(who is going to buy more expensive tea? even smuggled tea was taxed!), the merchants(store owners) mad because less people were buying their tea, and the traders mad because they couldn't even use their own ships! No money was to be made by the colonies in the case of tea, a popular and addictive drinking habit.
DURING:The Boston Sons of Liberty, a secret group of colonists, were against all the British acts and protested them. On December 16, 1773, members of this group chose to dress as Native Americans and throw 342 crates of tea (from British ships overboard) into the Boston Harbor. (the world's largest cup of tea) The Boston Tea party was a protest against the Tea Act.
AFTER:Lots of colonists were happy and thought Britain would see that the colonists weren't going to accept the taxes. Some people were upset and didn't think destroying Britain's things would get them anywhere but a direct line to revenge from Britain. Leaders of the colonists said they'd repay Britain if Britain took away the tax. Britain said the colonists would not only repay the damaged goods, but also for the colonists who did the dumping to stand trial. Then Britain issued the Intolerable Acts, part of which closed the Boston Port completely until the colonists paid for the lost tea.
Hope that helps!

They tried to make a harbor full of tea without boiling the water first... but they dressed up as Indians to do it... They thought the British might appreciate some 'cold pressed' tea...but I don't think they did...

The colonists dumbed the contents (which happened to be tea) over the side of the boat that carried it to America to protest hight tea taxes.

a bunch of locals did not want to pay taxes to a government that was not allowing them to be represented so they dressed like mohawk indians and said things like "me know you," boarded the boats, whose captains were in agreement with the "indians", and cracked open the cases and the canvas bages inside the cases and made tea in boston harbor.

it was only one of the many protest the colonist had they dumped tea overboard and they weere dressed like indians and it wasnt just because of high taxes they knew they had to pay taxes but what they wanted was to be able to have a word on it as their famous chant said "NO taxation without representation"

a bunch of guys decided they didn't want to pay the tax on the load of tea that was on their ship - they would have lost too much money in doing so - so they dumped the tea in the harbour rather than unload it.
