3 reasons. 1) Windows is loading all the initial programs, which accounts for the startup delay. this shouldn't last more than a few minutes at most. If it lasts longer, Solution: you need to clean your registry to remove unused software that delays startup while Windows is looking for the executable files that arent there. 2) you don't have enough RAM memory, so Windows has to keep swapping files back and forth to the disk drive, slowing the machine way down. Solution: add RAM 3) Your hard disk drive is nearly full, leaving <15% free space. Same symptoms as #2, Windows is swapping back and forth within the remaining disk space. Solution: remove unused files, empty recycle bin, perform disk cleanup. when all else fails get a bigger drive.
