b. but not just the English. It exposed an uncivilized Europe to the much higher civilization of the "Moors" and finally created an end the the "dark ages." Unfortuanetly, it also created a resentment against the West that still lingers to this day.

One other thing not mentioned: It left many a wife without her husband, for an incredibly long tome - without a word, causing quite a few of them to seek solace in the company of the gardner, houseboy or some other male that happens to be available.

It also helped the makers of chastity belts.
