You can strip the varnish using any kind of finish remover. The stain is a whole other deal. You cant strip stain as its absorbed into the wood. I hope your customer wants them darker? Then you could stain them darker. But otherwise you have to sand the stain out of the wood.

use Circa stripper to get rid of the varnish. sanding is the only way to get rid of the stain.

Contact the manufacturer. They know the tricks around their own products and might have a special formula for whatever you used.

Don't they have solvents to strip that off? Or I guess you could sand it.
