Because of all the work/projects.
Because of waking up super early.
Because of the people at school...maybe the don't get along, bullies.etc.
Because of all the rules and regulations which they have to follow. eg. dress code.
Because some teachers are just plain mean
But mainly, I think its because they just don't understand how gaining an education is going to benefit them in the future..

Most every child likes school up until a certain time. I've noticed that around 2nd or 3rd grade is when social skills are honed and certain children become leaders while others become followers. This is the beginning of 'cliques' or "clicks". When a click is full, other children must either follower another leader or become a leader themselves. For one reason or another, some children are left out, or choose to be a lone leader. This is a behaviour that befuddles the leader of a group, because their co-dependent nature seeks other children to validate their leadership. This is when ridicule begins of the child who does not have a group of children to validate their lone leadership, and thus begins to doubt their own abilities to lead alone.
Children who are bullied, picked on, don't do well in school or contrarily, do exceptionally well, are often singled out and are emotionally battered.
I don't like going to places where I'm made to feel badly about myself either. So it's natural that children would feel the same way.

I compare students in MS and HS to toddlers. They want independence and for everyone to like them, but they aren't willing/ready to take the consequences for either.
Socially, school is miserable for a lot of kids because they are still naive in thinking that everyone wants them to feel good about themselves and will do anything it takes to make them feel better. Kids are mean in order to get their own way, make themselves look better, or to defer attention from a bully onto a different target. It's all about finding a niche and unfortunately, it takes nearly all of the 12 years to perfect. Most of the conferences I've heard of from co-workers revolve around the topic of social skills or lack thereof, even when parents are concerned about academics.
Boring classes and tons of seatwork do not help matters, especially if that seatis around kids who are not confident enough in themselves to get the work done while being nice to everyone else in the class. Boredom leads kids to seek entertainment...aka bullying.
School is also sometimes the only place where rules are enforced and kids rebel against that idea, trying to hurt feelings of teachers/administrators (again the major way they are expressing themselves during this time to anyone except their family) by saying they hate school.
Solution - Work on social skills as much as you did when they were a toddler. Support them at home by reminding them that you love them no matter what anyone else thinks and show them examples of what it was like as you grew up (people that didn't like you, people that you didn't like, and vice versa - give reasons why for all of them).

IMHO most kids don't like school because it is something they HAVE to do until they graduate from high school, or reach the age of consent and decide to drop out. Plus, America has put such an emphasis on education, they feel that they have to do well in school in order to get a good job.

Most kids don't like school cause it's STRESSING! Yeah, stressing. Well what kind of stress do you get from going to school?
The teacher maybe mean or inconsiderate
Work seems useless
Peers are MEAN
Parents expecting high grades from you [ like 96 or above]
Too much work leading to near all-nighters
Pressure of getting into a good high school
And there are way more especially for middle school students who have to face their bullies, embarrassment in front of their crushes, and stay out of rumors.

Because the purpose of school is somewhere to put kids so adults can do stuff without having to supervise them. This time could be used effectively - in a lot of cases it isn't. Once, in the penultimate year of primary school (at age 9/10), my class spent all of December making Christmas decorations. Yes folks, THAT was the level of teaching there.
Incidentally, myself and a friend asked if we could play chess all December and were told yes.

I think some kids don't like school because they have-
A) difficult time learning
B) teacher(s) are assholes or boring
C) parent's don't give a care
D)Lazy
C)May be on drugs and don't care
E)Not enough to hold their interest and they are bored.
F)Peer Pressure and on and on and on from friends to Nike, to AE. All kids cannot dress the way they see others dress and this causes problems that's why I like uniforms for the kids.

Because it's something we all have to do. Thats why no one likes to do it. Who likes school, it's not exactly the most fun thing to do in the world. Plus in 2006, kids are f'in lazy anymore. They'd rather sit at home and play video games or eat anymore.. school is not the first thing they want to do.

Kids hate schools for different reasons. Personally, I hated school because all the assignments were boring, ridiculous, and taught me absolutely nothing.
I loved elementary school, I had good teachers and good friends. But middle school really didn't agree with me. I hated the totally impersonal way the teachers now interacted with their students, I hated always having to remind teachers of my name because they had to many students to remember who I was, and having to be at school fifteen minutes before I usually woke up, seriously messed with my brain chemistry and I became a total insomniac because I was afraid of waking up too late for school. Alarm clocks were useless for me, I tend to incorporate background noise into my dreams. I also disliked arguing with my parents about being on time for classes, doing all those stupid assignments when I knew that I wouldn't learn anything from them, and my father and I totally disconnected for a while because of it.
I'm home-schooled know, and finally a bit more sane. My reasons were odd, because walking into that middle school, for me, felt like winding duct tape around my rib cage so tight it was painful and I was suppressing so much anger at my teachers that when confronting my parents I would just explode about the smallest things.
I think the enviorment was just bad for me.

The most is ...
Children are very lazy.
Got to get up early.
You have to do school and noone likes doing things they have to do.
They have to think and listen.
They have to put up with teachers.
Barely get to talk during class.
They want to sit by there friend but probably if they talk do not get to.
They get detention sometimes and those are when you have to waste your time siting there doing like... nothing.
You waste like half of your day at school and not doing anything but learn.
There might be enemies you have to deal with or work with in classes.
And that about everything I can think of.
