Before marriage, yes. Look at the divorce rate!! Young people live together to try it out and to see if they are compatible, yet the divorce rate is higher than ever!! Obviously sex before marriage is not the answer.

Chow!!

Yes, I think abstinence is good before marriage, not necessarily based on religious principles but on common sense. The first year of marriage generally counted as the toughest time in a marriage. The newness and bonding effect of sexual intercourse tends to draw a couple together during that first year. If sex is old hat, then this element is gone. Just my thoughts. There are other reasons of course, this is just one. The other major reason would be STD's.

No, no point in doing it. Abstinence is a religious-based concept, designed to control the emotions and acts of otherwise ordinary humans. People should have sex when they want to, of course only with willing partners. And they should practice safe sex, but otherwise enjoy life to the fullest. THis is the only life you will get. And for those religious believers, don't think it promises sex after you die, so do all you can while you can.

HELL NO! Why? Why go through life not being able to feel the greatest physical pleasure ever? Just be careful and use protection, and you'll be fine. BTW, abstinence education does NOT work!

NO, I don't think it really exists. That's like saying, "Do you believe in starving yourself?" Sex is part of what makes us human. Why deny yourself this? At least masturbate 3 times a week!

Sure. I abstained when I got together with my husband until I knew he was the one. 4 years later and 2 years of marriage and I know he is the one. :)

Yes, if you are single there are so many STD's out there, and I see them a lot that come into the ER. I always tell patients that I would suggest.

It could be called for, at least temporarily, in certain situations, but it is somewhat unnatural as a permanent condition for healthy adults.

for what? I did but I was so afraid of sex it was worse. Now that I have experienced it I enjoy it. My boyfriend and I aren't married but monogamous and I haven't slept around. he's been my only boyfriend and we've been going a year now.

No, I think that sex is natural human thing to do. when your physicaly and mentally ready for it you might as well do it. I don't really see the point in waiting.
