I would get rid of stereotypes. It's the one thing everyone is guilty of.

I would change the world so that people were more tolerant and accepting of others. Since the world is made up of interesting and diverse people, it would be nice for the citizens of the world to embrace the fact that different is a good thing!

Gosh! One thing... (Hard to narrow it down.)
At this moment I'm thinking...on the human level...
I would say that every human would realize, retain and respect the fact that everyone, everywhere is basically the same...
We all (or at least the majority...) live, laugh, love, eat, drink, eliminate, dream, cry, learn, sleep, hope, 'pray', die... etc.
If we all could do that I think that would be the foundation to build upon for other problems... you know what I mean?

I'd invent a working "beam" machine (like from Star Trek) so that people could beam themselves places - so like if a tsunami was headed your way you could beam somewhere else to get out of the way or if someone was trying to kill you you could beam them directly to jail or if you had food that you didn't really want to eat you could beam it to a starving child so it wouldn't go to waste... beaming sounds like a lot of fun! Your boss leaves the office for a long lunch you could beam yourself to the Caribbean for a half an hour... You get sick of your screaming child you could beam it to the other end of the earth for the day.. (oh wait... did I actually just type that? uh.. uh....) Your 2 year old gets ahold of the beamer and beams himself somewhere... oh... hmm.. there might be a few issues to work out before I send the shipment out.. I guess maybe we'll have to wait til next year...

I would eliminate racism, hate, violence, intolerance, injustice, greed. But wait, you said ONE thing. Sorry. You also said New.....sorry again....none of those things are new, but eliminating them certainly would be.
