I believe "everyone" has a BASIC PURPOSE for living. I think we all choose our own goals, and therefore determine our own purposes for living.

My Basic Purpose for living is to WORK.

The type of work I do changes from time to time, and the rewards I get in exchange for my efforts vary.

But, when it come right down to the most basic/fundamental reason I live... I must say (and this is based on many years of observation and analysis), I LIVE TO WORK.

Why do you live?

OR

What are you trying to accomplish in life?

ALL honest/heartfelt answers will be thoroughly appreciated.

Thanks.

Loaded question! I live each day in anticipation of learning new things. I have an avid interest in archeology and anomalous science. I love to problem solve so its no wonder I am a mother of 3 who employees these tactics daily. I love being a member of the human race who has so much potential for great things. I love being a woman who is capable of bringing life into this world and nurturing my family and watching them learn things for the first time. The wonder in a child's eyes when he figures something out, I live for that! The peace in old persons eyes when they look back on their life and have no regrets, I live for that. I make the best of every bad situation...no sense in wasting one precious minute complaining about things I have no control over. I live for the warm sunshine on my face when I am feeling a little low...it reminds me I am not the most important person in this world. I live for simple thank yous from folks I don't know when I have been of some help. I live because this is life! and Life is worth living!

What am I trying to accomplish in life? Good question.
I try to make people happy through art. Taking pictures of their kids that come out really good. making slideshows for my friends of their time spent at school.

If I can make someone happy for a moment, than those hours spent photoshopping that photo were well spent.

Also, my friends keep me going, Yes, life is unpleasant and messy, but because of the people that God has placed in my life right now, I can get up in the morning and admit that today will be a good day because my friends exist.

I live to enjoy my family.

For years, my life was based on my daughter. She is now grown and gone from my home, but we're now planning her wedding for next October...So I'll have a new son-in-law to include in my family.

Now that she's gone, I get to enjoy my husband's company much more. The highlight of my day is my evening, when we get to share what has happened in each other's days, and work together on our near-term and future goals.

I'm also pleased that I have gotten to the point where I enjoy my parents' company, and thankfully, they're still alive that we can be together often.

I agree with metroactus. I don't really want to live, but I'm too afraid to kill myself (i'm not afraid of death; only my death by me). I figure that as long as have to stay here, I may as well be the best at whatever I do. So, I live to be good at all I touch until I die. It won't all be effort wasted, becuase the effort and results mattered to me.

I simply live so that one day, I may bring happiness to someone's life, and pass on my knowledge to others. Nothing more, nothing less.

I live for my children. Who else is going to teach them what they need to know in life and what's out there is this crazy world of ours. If I didn't have them then I would say for myself. There is only one of me and I can never be replaced. Besides my family and friends would go crazy without me. LOL. When the good man upstairs is ready to take me and it's my time. Then I guess it's time to go.

I have yet to find this out, seriously. At times I question why I am here but I'm lonely and sad even when there's no reason to be. I go to school, I'm with my family, I meet people but something is missing.

We are all created in the image of God. He put us, each of us on this earth for a specific reason and we have something to accomplish. The only way we will ever be satisfied with ourselves and experience happiness to the fullest is to pray and seek out God and read His Word. The reason will be revealed to us.

Nothing wrong to live for your work, but the rat race is going to kill you. I teach my children that you first need to enjoy life. Family, fun and then work. Of course I need to work to keep the pot boiling, but I want to enjoy life. Fortunately there are workaholics, someone need to pay the taxes!!
