Maybe if most showed maturity they would be treated as adults - most sulk and throw the toys out of the pram which gets them nowhere. If you protest, do it by rational conversation - not demands or sulking or shouting. Try it - it works xxxx

I think that more specifics are needed for a proper answer to this question. There are certain things that teens should be able to decide for themselves. However, a teenager, although they often think they have the knowledge and experience to make other decisions, often don't. The age to be left to make your own decisions, in my opinion varies with the teen and their attitude. From the question one can easily see you must be a teen having problems with limits that others are placing on your activities. I would say that your best option is to talk to your parents (or whoever) and let them know why you feel you are capable of making these kind of decisions on your own. Don't yell and don't swear... that just proves to them that you're a kid. Talk rationally. They may not change their minds but they will hopefully respect your approach enough to tell you why they feel the way they do. Often times parents only want to protect their kids.
Hopefully discussion will help.

Adults who are quite capable have the same problem. It's not going to go away, man. Freedom is something that must be earned.

The ostensible "American Way" is the notion that once you reach a certain age, you've learned enough. Instead of making individual jugements, we do it this way. Some people are adults at age 15. Some are children even at age 40. The REAL American Way is you have the freedom to do whatever you want to, just don't get caught.

The reason is, that parents care about you much too much to let you out on your own. They can't ever think of letting their little baby grow up and go out into the scary world. Parents don't let you make your own decisions because they don't want you to do something irrational and get yourself into trouble that you can't reverse. Then it would be like, your coffin on their heads, which is much worse because they're the ones who brought you into this world in the first place. Try to understand THAT, and maybe you'll become mature enough to make your own decisions.

Is great that teens know they are capable of doing things. The word quite is what bothered me. I have 3 teenagers. All have done time in jail and beyond. Because their pride said they knew everything. I did everything possible to prevent and they succumbed to their pride. Honor those who care for you. And talk about your feelings to them. Your parents, guardian, sister or brother. Whoever that may be. Girl please know if you do not care for yourself no one else can! I would hate to see the heartache you would have if you do not respect those who respect you. There are many people who will disrespect you in your life. Those people are who we try to train you to defend yourself from. It takes time to do that. 25 years of age is average for maturity. Look it up. Great question. It shows you have courage. Also tells me you know to do the right things in life. But there are people who influence. And no one is immune at any age. This is why is great to have family and friends. Enjoy them while you can.

they know that we are teens who are independant and want our space but dont seem to understand that we're not little kids anymore. they just want us to grow up happy and live the best life possible, with little risks. really they seem to think that we're prone to danger which we probably are but they do these things cuz they love us.

I am a teen and i never ask that.If you want to do something stupid like have sex or suicide parent reaally love and care about you too much to let you do that. Its because they care and if they didnt you would end up a father or a mother thinking of suiciding living in a crowded apartment probably a gangster or something. But if you want that then do it but its not good.
