The Freeview STB has an SCART jack on it just like anything else so you can use that with your existing DVD recorder. The new BluRay recorders are recommended for recording HD content in its full resolution and will be useful for when they come out with the Freeview HD stations but if you're happy with the quality of DVD you'll be fine. Besides, you'll pay very dearly for a BluRay recorder these days! Wait a couple of years on that one.

No, you hook it up to your video with the scart lead (comes with the freeview box usually)
