well, actually, i did a project on why coral reef in all oceans are dying. see, it's because of global warming and our nasty fishing habits. coral, have small algae they are born with, but becauyse of warming, they lose the algae, their color, and die. this is called bleaching. however, scientist salm has learned that some coral are resilstent. so, they can actually live through the coral bleaching. so, they are currenlt y trying to find new places for the coral to stay and reproduce. well, hope this helps. if you want to check out this article, i wrote the sight...

For the first part do a google search for the "great barrier reef".
For the second, some factors are pollution, global warming, harvesting corals for the pet industry, damage due to tourists and fishing.
