I want smoke to come out of my heater vents when the heater comes on, or maybe just all the time. Is that hard to hook up? Maybe with a separate thermostat so like every night from 6-8pm my whole house gets foggy.

Say What? This is pretty easy to do, though I can't imagine why. Anyhow, I just added a humidifier to my furnace, so hooking up a fog machine should be similar.

Here's one way to do it:
Design a method to attach the machine to the
cold air return, as close to the furnace as possible. I used a couple pieces of angle iron and screws. The humidifier was screwed directly to angle irons, and I put together a couple of 90-degree elbows to create a short 6-inch vent to run from the humidifier to the cold air duct.

For wiring, you can use a timer, a relay switch, or both. Relay switches are available online for clothes dryer booster fans. You could attach a relay switch to the furnace power supply - this would turn on the smoke whenever air is moving. A timer would just need to plugged in somewhere. If you wanted to have the smoke from 6-8, but only when the furnace is running, use a timer and relay switch. Plug the relay power source into the timer. That should do it. Here a link to a relay switch:
