The subject is "You". The sentence is a command and when there is a command or request with no specific name... the subject is understood to be you.

In order to find the subject of the second sentence, you must look to the first sentence. What are you trying to determine? Also look to the second part of your question: "Predict how the structure..." The question focuses on the structure of its components.

I believe the subject of the second sentence is "the structure", inferred from the first sentence, as intially the first sentence focuses on " the structure of (its) components" .
Rephrasing the first sentence: The structure of its components determines the properties of a bilayer. (Thus given this...) Predict how the structure would change if the following were true....

There is no subject in the second sentence, but I think your teacher is assuming you will remember the sentence that preceded it! That sentence is not structured properly. Ask your English teacher for an explanation to correct the sentence without revealing the source of your paper.

As I understand it, the "second" sentence is ..... "Predict how the structure would change ........"

The subject is actually YOU even though the word is not included.
