I'm 17 and I'm taking an overseas trip this february. I'm applying for a passport, but I'm not sure what I should wear.

Don't smile in the pic or ware makeup from what I hear and wear something really basic.. Yah this all sounds boring but its done for identity purposes.

What pose should the photos show?
The photo should show a clear, front view, full face of the customer. The customer should be in normal street attire, without hat or dark glasses against a plain white or off-white background. The customer should have a natural expression, mouth closed, and eyes open and looking directly ahead. Photos in which the face of the person being photographed is not in focus will not be accepted

An oversea trip child most girls your age well at least me and other people i know would'nt know what to wear to a sea trip but if your to take a picture you should wear some pretty and bring some old jeans and a shirt.

Clothes.
It honestly doesn't matter as a passport pic is mainly of your face. So no halloween masks and no bonnets. They are actually concerned about how you hold your face in the pic so it's at the right angle and expressionless so your face isn't "distorted" by a smile.

Wear a plain colored shirt (no patterns.. draws away from the face). Also avoid white, as it will make you look washed. Also make sure to not overload on the makeup, as the harsh lights wont make you look so good with tons of makeup on.

Make sure tht you have your hair nice and make up.
If you want something to show on your photo, where a high collar shirt or sweater.
They only want to see your face, to make sure that the passport belongs to you.

wear something you would wear everyday bc if someone wants to see like police they will notice any difference. and if you are wearing a bikini ( for ex.) then they will ask Q's trust me it has happened.
