In the final episode, Q tells Picard that humanity will not be destroyed. This is the dialogue:
Q: "For that one fraction of a second, you were open to options you had never considered. That is the exploration that awaits you. Not mapping stars and studying nebulae... but charting the unknown possibilities... of existence."

Picard: "Q, what is it you're trying to tell me?"

Q: "You'll find out. In any case, I'll be watching... and if you're very lucky, I'll drop by to say hello... from time to time. See you, out there."

What do you think Q meant by this?

Perhaps he meant that he, Q, would no longer be messing with humanity in an evil way, and rather that he might just "help them along" on their quest for knowledge and wisdom...

Are you kidding? Q lives to try and mess with Picard. On last night's episode, they came across a group that thought it was culturally required for a person to kill themselves when they turn 60. The passage you are talking about could be discussing how though they are searching for new planets and stuff, they are actually learning about other culture's views on the meaning of life.

Either he knows Picard's future, or he indeed is just forshadowing the fact that the human race will continue to grow and ultimately evolve into something less "earthly."

Seems like that line would be more appropriate for Sisko... I wonder what possibilities of existence he's learned while stuck in the wormhole :)

OMG!

I hated that 2 part episode. What a complete and total disappointment. It was just as pedantic as their first episode Encounter at Farpoint.

My fave episodes include, but not limited to:

Best of Both Worlds pts I, II
Measure of a Man
The Offspring
Lower Decks
The Hunted
Boobytrap
First Duty
Q Who (I believe is the one where the Borg first make their appearance.)

... and several others I'm forgetting.

Eh, nothing. They probably put it in the dialogue to say that humanity will find out. Not Picard.

The Lord is the writer of all beings - residing and non-residing and is seated in our hearts, and is guiding us onward in direction of our destiny. the full universe is moving below His education and plan. we are only contraptions appearing our roles he's given us to play. subsequently, we could desire to continually all be grateful to Him for each little thing. If we compliment yet another guy or woman for doing 'solid', we are certainly inflating that individual's ego. subsequently the word " compliment be to God", which potential we are telling the guy who God is appearing with the aid of him. So the guy's ego keeps to be grounded. however the better understanding is, even while he appearing as though he's doing 'undesirable' to you, that's larger to declare "compliment be to God" by using fact fairly, he's helplessly doing God's will. by using fact what's 'solid' & what's 'undesirable' - each and every thing is a concoction of the ideas. some thing may be 'solid' for you yet poison for yet another and 'undesirable' for you're 'solid' for yet another. in case you're saying some thing 'undesirable' has occurred which potential you're saying the God is purposely doing undesirable issues to you. in fact, God is acceptable, God is complete and each little thing that comes from God is likewise appropriate and complete. merely we lack a appropriate creative and prescient. If some thing 'undesirable' is occurred to us, that's for our purification, God is attempting to let us know some thing, that "My baby, what you're doing isn't for religious develop, subsequently exchange the direction" subsequently we could desire to continually continually compliment the Lord for in spite of journey we are dealing with. In Islam that's what they say in each and every thing that occurs: Alhamdulillah - compliment be to God Inshallah - God keen Subahnallah - God is vast Rahamdullah - God is all merciful and style
