I will be laying down watching TV and the baby will kick, or turn in my belly. It's this shooting pain that comes all of the sudden. Then I get cramps all down my thighs, feels like a charlie horse. Why does this happen. It hurts so bad, it's like all of the sudden bam! This shooting pain staight through my vagina. It's enough to knock me on my butt. What is this and why does it happen to me?

I think the baby is kicking your cervix, that's been happening to me with this one. Sometimes a kick like that to the cervix can give you a contraction.

Don't even think about it - if you have tried all of the above and still no movement phone your health visitor - with it being late, if you cant get hold of her phone the number you have for your hospital. Sometimes, if the baby's back is against your tummy you don't feel the movements because they are kicking inwards. They will more than likely tell you to go in to have a CTG to check the baby's heartbeat - I did the same at about the same stage & Im sure that the baby knows when it is strapped up to the monitor because they always seem to start having a party in there as soon as they switch it on and make you feel daft but its definately worth it for the reassurance!! Good luck - Im sure everything will be fine. xx

This is common towards the end of pregnancy. Your baby is either punching or kicking your cervix. Your cervix is very sensitive during pregnancy so that is why it causes such a reaction. I had the same thing happen to me. My baby was head down and had its hand up near its head so with little room to manuever it punched my cervix constantly. I actually saw the baby do it during an ultrasound. Hang in there, the pregnancy will be over before you realize it!

The same thing happened with my child I talked to my Dr. about it because it started to freak me out. My Dr. said it was the baby kicking a nerve inside of me, and the cramping in your thighs is a normal reaction after the nerve has been kicked.

Many babies move aggressively enough that can cause pain on the mother. But you should mention it to your doctor. During my pregnancy sometimes my daughter moved so aggressively that I felt pain in my belly button as though I was being pierced from inside out. Sometimes I had to apply a bit of pressure to the area to control the pain.

I feel sorry for you. But it happens to a lot of us. I've had 4 kids and everytime I got that pain I wanted to fall to my knees. It's normal. The baby doesnt have much room to move about. So he will hit every nerve in your torso. OUCH AND OUCH again!!!!!

~I had the same thing happen to me when I was pregnant, don't worry about it. I can't remember why it happened, baby was probably hitting a nerve or something.
I've heard other women having this problem as well. You're fine.~
