I use a fragrance free cleanser (boots own brand) then i use a tea-tree cleansing gel (this is good for getting rid of spot-causing bacteria as it has antiseptic in it). The i use toner to remove all leftover product and lastly i use a good moisturiser. About 10mins after you apply the moisturiser you should 'blot' your skin with tissue paper (this removes excess oils which can attract dirt) I swear by this routine as i used to get a lot of bad spots and this has helped me banish those nasties!! If you are bothered by acne type spots then i would suggest a treatment was like Panoxyl - you can get this from boots, etc for a few pound.

And of course - make sure you drink lots of water every day. A nice detox drink is boiled water with half a lemon squeezed into it and a sweetener! cleans out your insides!

Good luck!

As well as washing your face daily, you can do a daily regime of
a) exfoiliating (this should probably be done once every 2 weeks, with a good beaded soap, sea salt, or anything else that you can get at a bath and body shop.)
b) moisturizing (Just putting a little lotion on your face can do wonders for the softness and healthy glow of your face. make sure your moisturizer is for your face, not too oil.)
c) using a zit cream on those pesky spots (the best ones WILL BURN. That means they're working.)
d) Toner (this is to close and tighten your pores so they are less visible and zits are harder to pop up. Caution, though, toners are not to be used around your eyes and sensitive skin. My toner lets off fumes like an onion that make your eyes water.)

You don't need to do ALL of this, unless you are really serious about your skin. I don't use toner myself, too much of a hastle, but when you feel your face becoming too dry or scaly, exfoliate or rub on some moisterizer.

You can get any of this stuff at walmart for cheap, but if you REALLY want to get serious you can always opt for something more expensive.
I would personally recomend clinique's skin care system.
Their zit cream will get dry up zits in 2-3 days tops, and their mousturizer heals dry, flaky skin in an instant.

Have fun exploring your options.

I normally have a facial every 3 to 4 weeks backed up by regular use of a good facial cleanser, toner and moisturizer. I have two types of facials - a cathiodermie, which uses creams along with electrical 'irons' that 'roll' the cream deep into the skin, giving the sking a 'polished' surface, then the other one is microdermabrasion - this is another electrical appliance that is used on the face and gives a really smooth surface. Both of these may sound a bit dramatic and are too costly to do on a weekly basis but they equally give excellent results. It is really unbelievable!! Of course, nothing can really beat a good balanced diet along with lots of glasses of water to keep the spots away.

I've put two links that give you more info. Hope this helps.

Be gentle! Avoid touching your face, and don't wash it more than three times a day...you'll just irritate your skin.
Try an acne night time treatment gel..I use tea tree and witch hazel from boots. It's very clean smelling and my face feels much softer the next day. Plus, reduced redness and fewer outbreaks :)
People with acne don't have 'dirty' skin. Normal levels of bacteria just get trapped within our pores (because of the excess oil) so washing alone isn't going to prevent/cure acne. Just try to keep your skin feeling good and looking as healthy as possible. Drink water often, it really helps.

You could buy a cleanser, toner & moisturiser this should be used twice daily (morning & night) and you could also use a weekly facial scrub. The above items don't have to be expensive you can even buy them in your local supermarket, depending on your skin type, if you are suffering from spots I would suggest a combination/oily skin type to see if this helps clear up any spots. This was how I started my own cleansing routine, then if you find it's working for you (or not working) after a months continual use go to a beautican and have them look at you skin they should be able to tell you straight away your skin type.

Good Luck.

First of all, each night after I wash my face, and distribute some lotion under my eyes (I try to avoid my forehead because it tends to get oily) I take a cotton swab and some rubbing alcohol and gently use on my forehead, in between my eyes, and any other areas that are prone to acne. It keeps my face almost acne free. Of course, you'll get a few pim, ples here and there but for the most part, my face looks nice and fresh.

I also always rinse my face with cold water. It seems to make the appearance of my face a lot healthier.

Hope this helps you out!

Spotlessly clean?
Well, sometimes washing your face leaves residue, so use an astringent. Also, facial masks are great. They make my skin feel very soft.
I personally recommend the Original skin care line by Mary Kay. It's very hypoallergenic, it has a mask/scrub and an astringent, plus moisturizer and facial wash. The first time you use it, you will faint, your skin feels so nice.
Also, the rule of thumb they beat into our heads in middle school, avoid *prolonged* face-hand contact, like leaning on your hand, etc. The bacteria and dirt that accumulates on your hand during the day will clog the pores of your face and cause breakouts.

I personally go to a homoeopath, i found that my GP wasn't much use and now i am taking remedies my spots are really clearing up. Also you should use a good face wash, one that isn't too harsh because that strips your skin of all natural oils and just encourages it to produce more oils. Also don't use an exfoliator more than 2-3 times a week. Also avoid really greasy foods. But don't worry too much about your diet, it doesnt really affect spots that much.

remember to wash your face twice a day, once when you wake up and then again before you go to bed...

firstly i cleanse with body shop cleanser then i rinse with hotwater (not too hot remember) to open the pores and get the dirst and grease out, then i rinse again with cold water to close up the pores again so new dirt doesnt get in.... THEN (when i wash my face in the morning) i use some witch stick on my forehead and around my mouth and chin or where ever your personally prone to getting spots BUT then when i wash my face at night i put on witch clean pore gel.

also make sure you dont touch your face too much
