They're pretty important. it is said that even on a well balanced diet, women don't get all the vitamins necessary during pregnancy. They are especially important in the first trimester, when keeping food down may be difficult. Getting enough folic acid is very important during pregnancy and it's just extra insurance that you're getting enough. They're not expensive, under 10 dollars for a bottle of 250 at Wal-Mart.

It is very important to take Prenatal Vitamins, especially towards the beginning when the spinal cord is being developed, because it contain Folic Acid which helps prevent spinal bifida. Anyway, I also heard that your baby take all the vitamins in your body it need and give you the left over, so if I were you I would want to make sure you get yours too! I also heard that if the Prenatal vitamins make you nauseous then to take 2 Flinstones.

Not important at all if you eat well, however most people don't. On the other hand it is very hard to absorb artificial vitamins so they may do nothing. Also the difference in price between regular and prenatal is not necessarily worth it when you compare what you get.

It depends on the person. I have low iron and I am anemic. On top of that I dont get enough calcium because I dont like milk, so I make up for what im lacking by taking a Womans One a Day, insteaad of prenatals.

Pretty important-they contain folic acid which the lack of will cause birth defects of the neural tube. the most common is spina bifida. They also contain iron which will decrease the incidence of anemia during pregnancy. Calcium to prevent bone loss. Sure you could get all those and more from your diet but why take a chance that you are?

With my first child, I was unable to take them due to the nausea that they caused me. Instead I took 2 Flintstones w/iron a day. With this pregnancy I am doing the same and also taken extra folic acid, calcium, and vitamin c. Everyone is the same and have different health so it is up to you to take them or not.

they're important because they help your baby get extra nutrients and they help with birth defects and things that could go wrong with your baby. so thats why its important that you get some and take them everyday. and if you get sick when you take them, try eating like some crackers or something before taking it. and dont take them with milk. that will stop the nasuea that ppl say they get.

love jen.

i think they are extremely important as well. just because a baby doesn't have any side effects in the beginning doesn't mean they won't later in life. if its good for your baby, why question it. just do it.
