Resently someone has contacted me, claiming to be an old friend from high school. They aren't in any of my old year book however. She claims that she went to my school with me though.

I'll tell you my big secret. I didn't get my senior picture taken because all the girls were to wear something that looked like a black gown that exposed both shoulders. I was too embarrassed. (I did'nt know what one was supposed to do about the bra)

Unless the person was absent from school the day they took the pictures, or the yearbook committee forgot to put their picture in, then they should be in there. I don't know of any reasons other that that or the person actually requesting that their picture not be included. However, in my yearbook, they indicated the person's name in the book and a message stating "picture not available" for those.
If they are an old friend from high school and you do not remember them, they were probably not that close to you at that time. I have been out of high school over 20 years and I can still tell you just about all of the 50 or so kids I graduated with, and I was at a regional high school before that and I can name you all the people I hung out with there (who I did not graduate with because we moved away in Grade 9)
You can certainly meet her if you are interested in finding out more, but I would be curious to know why she is trying to reach me. If it is to invite me to the reunion, no problem. If they want to get together and then try to get me to invest in something because of some sob story or "great idea" they have, I'd be a bit wary as to why they really were not in the yearbook.

She could have been absent from school, the day pictures were taken, or she could have declined having her picture in the year book, Are you sure you are using the right name? has she married and have a different name, or maybe she is using a middle name as a last name. It is strange, however, most people do want their picture in the yearbook. When I was in college, I didnt have my picture in the yearbook my first year, because there was a charge of 35.00 and I just didnt have the money.

Anyone can claim anything. If she is not in your yearbook then ask her why she is not in the book. Consider her answer and see if it sounds reasonable to you. One other thing. If she did go to your school her name will be in the back of the yearbook where the students are listed in alphabetical order and it lists everyone who attended the school when you were there. If her name is not there then she is not telling you the truth.

Did you look up her maiden name in the yearbook? Maybe this is a scam or maybe she was gone on picture day and didn't participate in any activities that would have gotten her pic in the yearbook...

At my school for senior year we have to go to a separate photographer to get our pictures and then they send it to our school. So people who did not make an appointment to get their pictures taken do not have a picture in the year book. Even in this situation their name would be in it.

Either her name's changed since she went to school with you (maybe got married or something), she was absent when the yearbook pictures were taken, or she's a creepy stalker preying on you. :)

I was not in my junior year yearbook. I did not get my picture taken in time.

I wasn't in the year book from 3rd to 8th grade. It's probably because they missed picture day. Though there is alwaysthe possiblity that they weren't and just lying.
