'Like' as in "I was like, 'what are you talking about?' and he was like 'You know.' and I was like 'No, really I don't.'"
For heavens sake! Its not 'like' anything! Try using 'He said 'and 'I said' .
Sorry to go on about this but 'whatever' really gets on my nerves too when the speaker means that they want to agree to differ.
