has to be your alternator is not handling the load - it will drop loads as required - get it tested ( also could mean the battery is going and until you get some revs up the alternator is shunting all of it's current to the battery )

so test battery and alternator - free at all chain auto parts stores

NOTE when you said not working i assume you mean the BLOWER if it just doesn't produce heat then you need to check the following ( in this order ) thermostat - control valve ( in the heater hose ) - coolent system ( flush the system )

sounds like a pos, vacuum problem to a door actuator if your coolant level is fine and temperature on the engine is above 180 degrees and it only does not work on idle you may have a partialy broken vacuum line some heater control valves work on vacuum start there i use a cigarrete and blow smoke on lines to find leakss and cracks
hope this helps

The coo lent level is probably low even though the gage is showing that it is alright. You need to check it manually and since coo lent doesn't just evaporate then you probably will have a small leak somewhere.

Won't work as in no heat? Or won't work as in no air flow?
No heat? My guess is a thermostat or radiator cap. No air low? My guess is a vacuum leak.
Just my opinion, I could be wrong.

Might be a bad water pump or drive belt.

Sounds clogged. Lines may need to be cleared or replaced.
