when i log on as a user on the family pc.. i get no sound at all, yet when other people log onto the pc under their user name the sound from the speakers is fine..i have checked the volume controls on the pc and also gone into OPEN VOLUME CONTROL and all seems to be fine HELP

It's not a driver or a speaker problem, since the work for other people. My guess is that yiou are running something that has grabbed the speakers. Download Mike Lin's Startup Control Panel, and disable everything except yoiur antivirus software

May seem daft but just reopen volume control and check there isn't a little tick in the box marked "mute all"

install your sound card driver which is given when you baught your computer
