By far away I assume you mean in another continent.

Send them photos. Create a photo album for them. Give it to them the next time you visit so they can experience some of the things you have been up to.

Learn about their culture, language, foods and traditions. Share yours with them. It's fun. You can keep up through phone calls, letters, email, etc.

you're so lucky to live far away! i'm kidding.
start calling them every week, write emails or letters. you can send them pictures, or get a family website for yourself. you can put pictures on that, write little blurbs about you and your spouse, if you have kids, tell how they are doing, etc. just be creative.

wow!! umm...whew... where can i begin? mainly you have to play it by ear, some in-laws are better dealt with only in person or some you can grow to love on the daily bases. just keep in mind that they are family and as long as they respect you, then u shouldnt have a problem!!

share information. Letter writing is a lost art. Write weekly letters letting them know what you are doing as a couple. They will feel they know you well from your letters. Worked for us,

Call them from time to time and most specially on holidays and their birthdays. Send them gifts for special occasions too. Visit them occasionally.
