a "bunny" and a rabbit are the same thing, "Bunny" is a childish word for rabbit a bit like "woof woof", "kitty" or "Geegee" the name of a baby rabbit is a kit or kitten.

The only difference is adulthood. Bunnies are the offspring of Rabbits. As to Bugs and Lola I think that Warner Bros. just used Bunny as the last names because their target audience was/is children and most children use the word bunny more often than rabbit.

A bunny is a baby rabbit. Bugs Bunny just sounded better than Bugs Rabbit.

yes they are also baby rabbits but if you go to the pet store you will notice the difference. there are Dwarf bunnies that don't get big like rabbits. Normal rabbit can get huge. while some bunnies stay pretty small you just have to look for what kind they are. and you local pet store would know.

Bunnies, young. Rabbits, mature. Can you imagine Bugs Rabbit? Bunny sounded better. Don't forget Roger Rabbit. Roger Bunny just doesn't have the same ring to it.

Bunnies are rabbit ninja. Give them a daily ransom of parsley leaves so they won't open their cage latch and kick you to death in your sleep.

Some people will use "bunnies" to refer to young rabbits, but the proper term is actually "kittens," believe it or not.
Additionally, you'd rarely call a meat breed a "bunny." It pretty much refers to cute pets. But you can call any rabbit a "rabbit."

A bunny is a pet or a cartoon.

A rabbit wrecks your garden, digs holes that can break a horse's leg, and runs across the highway in front of your car.

You can shoot a rabbit, but never shoot bunnies.

bunny is just another term for rabbit and i guess sounds more appealing and also easier to say for young children, however there is a difference between rabbits and hares.
