Movie was great. I read the book which was based on a journal written by the main character and published by his grandkids?, I think. The movie had the same feel of the book. Kind of an emotional compartmentalization of the events, which was very disturbing. The guys family said he never spoke of the war and when they found this journal of course, it was obvious why.
I really liked the emotional detachment of the story. I think this is a symptom of survivors and it lent a sense of authenticity to the story.

I loved it, but I'm really in the Holocaust stuff. If you're not into that, I wouldn't go for it. I, however, do think that Schindler's List was better and more moving, but don't recommend that unless you can handle a 3 hour black-and-white movie. The Pianist was really good.

Seen it but i was expecting something more...
seemed to be going on forever and although that was probably its intention (the pianist must have being feeling the same locked up in one room for ages) it didn't really catch me.

yeah it was good though the title was very misleading coz it didn't hav a whole lot to do with the movie really like they could have made the fact he's a pianist much bigger in it rather than just everytime we met a new character they remarked on it

Yes! I liked it, but it's so depressing. It's a shame what happened to that poor guy, and to be able to live through all of that is out of this world.
