The people who earn it spend it better, but the answer to your question is actually irrellevant in a discussion about progressive taxation.

The question that should be asked is: Is it any of the governments business if I spend my money poorly?

Is it the governments job to decide how much and to whom taxpayers give charity (via tax based social programs)?

Are we, as Americans prepared to give up the security of our freedoms in order to gain financial security.

Those who would tell you that the only trade off for social programs is part of your paycheck are either ignorant or lying. The more money the government has, the easier it will be for a tyrannical leaders to come in and take over our nation.

To me Freedom is more important than financial security

Well, if the current government was to apply for a loan at a back, they would get rejected, and probably need to file for bankrupcy. Also with the social security problem; if a company was to borrow from a pension fund to fund, let say a new building, they would be in prison.... just something to think about.

Not the goverment, they nickel the dime the taxpayer look at the earmark strips of bacon in each will explain it all. Most taxpayers work to pay for goverment services till the first week of June I figure. They raised the social security tax 36 times in the last 60 years, and look at how polticans loot social security system for more goverment funding. No more tax increases????

The Government. unless you think that you should pave your own roads, supply yourself with clean water, clean your own sewerage, build your own airport, pay for your own policeman etc.

The Common weal is a better use of the money
