it is actually fibers from that garment along with other fibers from other garment, and lint that are all binding together!you can get them off usually by wrapping a peice of tape around your hand and dabbing it against the ball and it usually will remove them!or you can buy this little fuzz buster machine that shaves them off!

There's a little battery operated device that you can get called a fabric shaver from a fabric store or any drug store-that sells small items for the house that removes pills off clothes. I have one and it works beautifully since it makes your clothes look cleaner and lasts longer since pills can cause rips and tears in your clothes if it snags on something. I have two one for clothes and and a large one for comforters and larger items.

You can try turning the item inside out before washing and/or washing in a lingerie bag... those fuzzies are total annoyance... like someone else said, a 'clothes shaver', while time consuming, is effective in removing them. WalMart sells them...

I think it's from friction with the other clothes--I read somewhere that if you turn your clothes inside out and wash them, it'll stop.

I don't know but I hate it when you buy a new sweater and wash it for the first time and you take it out of the washer and there they are.
