I am a diehard Red Sox fan. I just watched Fever Pitch today (home sick). I think that being a Red sox fan is unlike being anyother kind of fan. Fenway is like home and we have a close bond. When they play Sweet Caroline and 35,000 people sing along and when they win or lose everyone in the stadium feels the same. When the Sox travel sometime there are more sox fans in the stadiums then the home fans. I love it.
What is going to happen to the team? We are getting these top picks and getting rid of solid players we already have. Trot has been a Red Sock for the longest than anyother player and we just got rid of him so we could get someone else?? Do you think the management is doing the right thing??

I think that as Red Sox fans we always worry we can't help it, it is in our blood, DNA whatever. We have to learn that good old Theo is going to bring another championship to Boston. Don't worry Boston won't agonize another 86 years. The problem with most Red Sox fans, myself included, is that we become loyal to all the players and feel they should always play for the Red Sox. In reality they need to move on when the time comes and the team needs to improve with great acquisitions, I'm not so sure about that "unhealthy" one though. Guess we have to trust management...they did it in 2004.

If Manny stays, then the J.D. Drew signing is okay. Trot Nixon is a real dirtdog, and I hope he signs back on with the Sox in a lesser role, but Drew is a better fielder and has more God-given ability. Hopefully playing in a town that really loves the game will bring him to be the player that he was supposed to be when he was the #1 draft pick. I'm not giving up on Theo and the Trio yet.

The handbook scoreboard 5. section 40 two, row 37, seat 21 6. ending an 86 year "curse" 7. Boston is without doubt certainly one of the main historic & remarkable cities 8. The impossible Dream 9. I think the Red Sox management is doing a great job. They have signed JD Drew to a five year contract, have signed a great shortstop in Lugo, and are about to sign an excellent pitcher from Japan. Nixon was a nice guy and gave 100%, but he is just an average player, and it was time for him to go. One of the problems the Sox have is that they "stick" with those who have either passed their prime or who are washed up. Witness their toleration of Wakefield, a 500 pitcher at best; Nixon, an average player at best; and the relief pitcher who had one good year and has been an albatross ever since (I already have forgotten his name). I think they now are in a strong position to win their division as well as the World series.

Chow!!

Trot Nixon should have been gone 3-4 years ago. He can't hit lefties. He is a hustler on defense but plenty of guys do that.

I'm worried about the Drew sigining, given the fact that he is injury-prone. But if they get Matsuzaka signed, look out!

Go SOX!! and theo epstien is a genius and I think he will pull of a big signing this year, Trot is going down hill and I like him but we should get rid of him before we regret it. But wasting the 52 million or something made me mad but we'll atleast make it to the playoffs.

Well, in my opinion...i think they are going to be better next season. They will be even better if they actually sign Daisuke Matsuzaka. The dude is nasty. We also got Lugo....he's also good. Drew is good to...hopefully he will do well this season. Trot isn't as good as he use to be. I liked him. He was a great player to have on the team but he is injure proned. In my opinion. Management is doing their best to get another championship back to boston. Well....that's my say. get well soon. It's the nasty flu isn't it?

if theo epstein is a genius, why did the red sox finish in 3rd place last year. theo is still studying general mangers cliff notes and general managers for dummies and if he studies enough, perhaps, just perhaps they may finish in second place next year.
p.s. if theo is a genius than brian cashman is angelic.
go yankees !
