"When sunlight travels through the atmosphere, blue light scatters more than the other colors, leaving a dominant yellow-orange hue to the transmitted light. The scattered light makes the sky blue; the transmitted light makes the sunset reddish orange. " 1

"Look at the beam from the side of the tank and then from the end of the tank. You can also let the light project onto a white card, which you hold at the end of the tank. From the side, the beam looks bluish-white; from the end, it looks yellow-orange." 1

"The frequency of a wavelength of orange light is 4.96 x 1014 sec-" 3

"The different wavelengths are detected by the human eye and then interpreted by the brain as colours, ranging from red at the longest wavelengths of about 700 nm to violet at the shortest wavelengths of about 400 nm. The intervening frequencies are seen as orange, yellow, green, and blue." 4

"The colour orange occurs between red and yellow in the visible spectrum at a wavelength of about 585–620 nanometres. It is a pure chroma in the colour theory, with a hue of 30° in HSV colour space. The complementary colour of orange is azure. With pigments such as paints or crayons, the primary colours red (or more accurately, magenta) and yellow mixed together produce the secondary colour orange. Orange pigments are largely in the ochre or cadmium families." 5

Flamboyant and Energetic : Orange is vibrant. It's a combination of red and yellow so it shares some common attributes with those colors. It denotes energy, warmth, and the sun. But orange has a bit less intensity or aggression than red, calmed by the cheerfulness of yellow.
Nature of Orange: As a warm color orange is a stimulant — stimulating the emotions and even the appetite. Orange can be found in nature in the changing leaves of fall, the setting sun, and the skin and meat of citrus fruit.
Culture of Orange: Orange brings up images of autumn leaves, pumpkins, and (in combination with Black) Halloween. It represents the changing seasons so in that sense it is a color on the edge, the color of change between the heat of summer and the cool of winter.
Because orange is also a citrus color, it can conjure up thoughts of vitamin C and good health.

Orange you glad I answered this question out of the blue? I love books and am well red, but I am no brown noser. I am still inexperienced and a little green, but I am not yellow. I will try anything once. I hope this off color remark did not offend you. I trust you are not a shrinking violet.
