Hi,
The general rule of thumb is 160 degrees.
This will kill off bugs, bug eggs, and most bad bacteria and parasites.
Hope this helps,
Dave

Just remember there are alot of good bugs in the soil some of them are beneficial to alot of plants-for instance there are bugs that kill some of the other bad bugs like ahpids and angle worms are a sign that your soil is in good shape!

Dave is correct. 160 degrees for one hour will kill most insect larva, eggs. It will also kill fungus and bacteria. If you get it any hotter than 160, you will be killing the beneficial insects and bacteria also. This will pretty much kill all of the good parts of soil too.

250 degrees will get rid of most if not all the bugs.
