They can all afford to donate 1 million dollars that's nothing to them to feed the hungry people in this world that would make such a difference. Why do they make such RIDICULOUS amounts of money and want to be worshiped. These people need to help others, rather than wear all that bling and get paid 20 million just to make a stupid movie.

i agree, but why should celebrities have to part with a million dollars when there are plenty of millionnaires in the world who are not famous. they are loaded with cash, and why dont they have to donate their money too?
the only answer i can give you, is that most millionnaires arent the types to just GIVE their hard earned millions away. they are more inclined to do fund raising and aid work for countries in poverty (like bono from U2 and Angleina Jolie, as well as many others).
plus, i know this sounds rough, but lets jsut imagine that 1 billion dollars was raised from millionnaires to help a poverty stricken country....
what use is this money, when the soil and water they have there are no good for harvesting crops and animals for food sources?
i feel, if anything, the money would be better used on making the people from these countries more aware of diseases like AIDS and teach them how to practise safe sex. I believe this would be a great way to help these nations.
But to answer your question.... i really dont think that enough rich people would donate a million bucks to help the poor, becasue at the end of the day, that 1 billion bucks i spoke about before will not go very far at all.

They can't. It's like a disease. Once you get that rich you want more and more and more. You become addicted to and obsessed with money and material things. To be fair some do but they usually announce it and make a big deal out of it for publicity. If it was truly selfless they would do it anonymously but at least they do it. Sandra Bullock donated a million to the tsunami and a million to 9/11 victims, I believe.

They usually don't get paid 20 million for a movie. It's usually like 2 million, or 5 million depending on how famous they are.
Most celebrities do donate to charity. Actually ... they ALL do, because they want to look good. If they didn't they would get a bad repuation. Of course most don't donate 1 million dollars, every little bit helps, but I agree that they could donate more. But it's their money. They are people like you and me and we cannot force them to give away their money.
Bill Gates donated 1 billion once, but it wasn't for hungry or anythnig like that, I think it was like cancer research or something.

Well actually most celebrities do donate over a million dollars to many different charities. Another thing is if you don't like them you shouldn't support them, which i am sure you do. Every time you go to the movies, rent a movie, buy a movie, watch television, listen to songs, anything you are supporting them and putting more money in their pockets.

How do you know they don't? People like Oprah (huge aid to African school children), Angelina Jolie (donates half of each of movie salaries to her charities), and the Rolling Stones (had table for Red Cross at their concerts for Katrina relief, ticket sales charities, items for auctions, etc.) make sizeable contributions. I am sure there are others who make their contributions privately and don't need or want public knowledge of their generosity.
But it's their money to do with as they please. Even if the rich (celebrity or not) never chose to give away a penny, it's still their business and not mine.

I dont agree with you. I bet if you had 10 million dollars you wouldnt donate 1 million. You can donate as much as you want.

I know Bono and Pearl Jam and Oprah have openly donated to charity, I think greed has alot to do with it.If i ever won lotto I would be helping the hungry :)

especially the ones that rattle on about it like bono and bob geldof.Why dont they donate their spare millions that they would never possibly need and still leave themselves far richer than ever imagined instead of asking us working class people to donate our hard earned cash that we already struggle by on without making charity donations?

Most celebrities don't donate 1 million because most are greedy and can't afford to give 1 million dollars because they earned it. no but they're just greedy and don't think the world is their problem.
