Only marginally, as the heat from the heated rooms then has to 'leak' into the unheated rooms, which means that the rooms that you are trying to heat take longer, so in the long run you are no better off. Keep the unused rooms at a lower setting (not OFF) to reduce the effect, and then they will heat quicker when required, and wont suck all the heat through the walls!

The only way to save on the amount of gas used is to turn down the thermostat on the wall in the hallway to a lower setting, the rad stats are only for controlling the tempreture of each individual radiator they have nothing to do with the amount of gas used, if you have no hall stat then turn the stat on your boiler to a lower setting, but remember if it's very cold in the house your boiler will come on and off more often to try and maintain the temp. level, leaving all the doors ajar will cause the temp. to disipate more evenly throughout the house otherwise only the hall will reach the desired temp. before cutting off.

Yes the boiler won't run as long because you won't be heating or heating as much the rooms that you turn down the thermostats on.

Turning off radiators will keep on your gasoline bill. there is an previous different halves tale (in all likelihood placed approximately by using the previous gasoline Board) which you will warmth the upstairs rooms so which you do not lose lots warmth, yet that's nonsense. You pay for the skill that escapes out of your place. in case you will have suited insulation, you does not choose any gasoline - your physique warmth may well be sufficient to warmth the placement. warmth escapes for the duration of the domicile windows, partitions and roof. The greater suitable the temperature distinction, the speedier skill escapes. in case you warmth greater rooms, you have greater scope for dropping warmth and consequently bigger gasoline costs.

It will save on the gas, but can't see how it will save on electric. the boiler uses a minimal amount of electric.
