An acre, which is a common measurement of land area, is equal to 43,560 square feet. A lot is just a part of the land you are buying. Some Lots could have many acres on it and some lots could only be .25 of 1 acre. Typically a lot is what you buy to build a house on. The land you own in a neighborhood.

A lot is an are of land that is for sale. An acre is a measurement of how much land. So a lot could be very small or very big- an acre is the same size all the time.

A lot is not a specific size. One can have a quarter-acre lot or a half-acre lot or a square-inch lot (of which I have one!). Look up the measurements of an acre in the dictionary.

A lot is not even consider a word to some old persons and is not an exact number and acre has dimensions and can withstand judgment of larger or smaller the other exact measurements.
A lot is also person judgment if you give a one dollar bill to a first grader they will say it is A Lot, but if you give a $1.00 to a High School Graduate the will not say "Wow That's A Lot"

A lot is just a name for the property and is not measured. Someone might say "we bought a 5 acre lot"
