A face-wash with a mild salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide content will help a lot. Use an oil-free moisturizer, and don't wash more than twice a day... it doesn't do any good and it irritates your skin. Spot treatments like Clearasil or tea tree oil will help with individual zits.
Going on the birth control pill is often helpful for women with acne, as are the medications Accutane, some oral antibiotics, retinoids. These are all pretty heavy-duty drugs that need a doctor's prescription. None of this stuff works overnight... you need to be on for at least a few months before you will see results. And of course, you can wait it out... almost everybody's skin gets clearer as they get older.

I used to have beautiful skin until now. Nothing helped. I could not use proactive because I am allergic to benzo...anyway, I started looking on the net and came accross acne can be caused from hormones. I began taking birth control again. (im 33 and tubes are tied) It has almost completely cleared my face.

Drinks lots of water. Avoid all soda, candy and sugar. Use a cleanser with exfoliant (tiny particals that scrub your skin). Wash daily and you can buy this stuff at Walmart and discount stores call ACNE FREE. Very cheap and works wonders.
