I like heavy metal more than any other music including hip hop wich I listen as well but why there is not more bands of heavy metal.

Heavy metal is not dead, and will not die while I'm around and able to do something about it. There are a few radio stations out there that still plays metal, and as for the shortage of bands I don't think so. There's just a shortage of good bands. And the good ones like Breaking Benjamin, System of a down, Disturbed, Lamb Of God etc, are stil coming out with great and heavy albums.

Oh no dude, heavy metal is never dead.
Nowaday many heavy metal bands are joining with some indie label for their releases, They no use any major label again, cause major label are too tight for their music. So they are joining many indie label, like MTM, powerplay records, karthago records, cult metal, etc. So the heavy metal is not dead. They just turn to another small independent label that really respect to their music. And nowaday also there are so many old times albums from heavy metal band been rereleased again. You think metal is dead because some old bands changed their style? That's stupid, Metal is fantastically alive and thrashing, but you aren't listening. there is thousands of heavy metal band such as metallica and megadeath
and there is other kinds of metal that is good as heavy metal
such as black metal, death metal
if you are in hip hop or pop i think that you should listen to new metal or rap metal

Well in America, there isn't many bands that still perform, but not in like Denmark, Finland, these bands play ALOT of heavy metal

metal is far from dead buddy. listen to the greats as well as some of the up-and-comers just startin out! Search any music program for the genre of metal and listen to all the excellent work out there!

those are all pretty good. there are tons of bands out there. go on myspace.com and click "music" then scroll till you see "most popular genres" and click "metal" that'll work.

no it isn't dead. its heavy metal. jk. but um yah there isn't much well known heavy metal bands, but u can research heavy metal and it wud give u sum band names, and if u have limewire, go on limewire and download sum of those bands music. who knows u might like sum of them.
